There is an art to writing thoughtful, entertaining and intelligible content and there is an art to writing optimized press releases. Writing press releases should not be taken lightly because these are the bodies of writing that if done properly will create a business buzz along with increased sales if that is the purpose. A press release is not exactly the same as an advertisement though. They can include breakthrough developments, a new product/service or any interesting news that a business owner feels will increase exposure and down the road profits.
Optimized press releases need to include these things:
- The opening line needs to summarize what is being featured in the absolute best light.
- People don’t want to waste their time reading something that is boring so making the opening intriguing needs to take thought.
- The body should include information surrounding what is being featured.
- The conclusion should highlight the company and give all pertinent contact info.
- Quotes and facts from other sources that support what is being featured are also necessary.
- Work the language around the intended audience for added intimacy.
- Proofread, revise and proofread again.
