When Writing Press Releases Do Not… |

Often understanding what not to do is the one of the best ways to figure out what to do. This is the case when writing press releases. The first thing that you should never do when writing press releases is create a title that does not spark the interest of the reader or summarize what the piece is about. In less than ten words describe in the most exciting way as possible what you are bringing to the table with the press release.
Do not create an opening paragraph that gives a background on the company being featured; no one wants that to be the first thing they read. People are interested in the big news and look for company based information near the bottom. Stringing out the body of a press release will lose the reader’s attention. Be as concise as possible while putting all of the necessary facts and news on the digital page.
Look to examples of press releases from large corporations. These are the people who spend the most time and energy in creating a buzz. Optimized press releases are in the hands of the writer and the spin they can put on the news to make it interesting.
